b. 1994, Jerusalem, Israel; lives and works in Jerusalem, Israel and Paris, France
Anne Simin Shitrit is a photographer whose work explores masculinity and adolescence. Through intimate portraiture and landscape photography, she photographs socially and politically charged environments, often communities living on the margins of society. Her images capture moments in which vulnerability, desire, and latent violence coexist, revealing the psychological complexity of bodies shaped by ideology, geography, and class. Balancing empathy with a precise visual restraint, Shitrit’s photographs present beauty as both alluring and unsettling. Her work investigates how identity is formed under pressure, turning analog photography and printing into a space where personal narrative meets broader social realities.
