Zohar Tal Inbar
*1964, Israel; lives and works in Alon Hagalil, Israel
Zohar Tal Inbar’s figurative paintings draw upon classical European traditions to explore the intersections of personal memory, collective identity, and the human condition. She moves between portraiture, still life, and elaborate compositions informed by Renaissance painting, mythology, and Christian iconography. Rooted in her upbringing in the Israeli kibbutz, her practice examines familial relationships, the construction of national narratives, and the tensions between individual experience and collective history. Through meticulous attention to light, geometry, and tonal relationships, Tal Inbar imbues familiar subjects with psychological and symbolic significance. Her paintings negotiate the distance between beauty and violence, intimacy and ideology, transforming personal histories into broader reflections on belonging and remembrance.
